On the afternoon of June 2nd, David passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, in the home that he shared with his wife, Cathy (Zinkand) of 43 years. He was 72.
David, known by most as Dave, was born in Pittsburgh on March 30, 1946. David led a full and joyful life. He enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a local poker club for over 40 years. He was an avid reader and it was rare to find him without a book in progress. He celebrated his Scottish heritage, especially by having a good scotch. Dave was an avid movie buff. In his spare time he also enjoyed target shooting and he even managed to master the internet enough to look at pictures of his grandkids and play poker online, proving that you can in fact teach an old dog new tricks when properly motivated. More than anything though, he loved his family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Dunlap, his sister Lyle Samuel, his two children, Megan (Sean) Jarrett and David Dunlap Jr., his two grandchildren, Ellie and Jack Jarrett, his 2 sister-in-laws Janet Sharp (Ken) and Nancy Turkovich (Al), 8 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and grand nephews.
Visitation Tues. 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.
Service Wed. 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
