Steven passed away peacefully in the H. J. Heinz Veterans Facility from his battle with ALS.
He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen, his son, Steven Daniel (Ellie), the late Lesley Todoric, his stepchildren Erin (Andy) Uhrig, Angelic Gale and Alex Borlak and 4 grandsons, his sister Betsy (Tom) Costellic and his endearing Aunt Elizabeth Stogoski. He was the son of the late Steve and Marie Todoric.
Steve was an accomplished man: He served his country in the United States Marine Corp (Reserve) He was immediately activated after basic training to Guantanamo Bay Marine Base in Cuba.
He was the Regional Director for the Bureau of Narcotics Investigation for the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office from 1972-2002 and became the Senior Supervising Narcotic Agent Training Unit where he established annual training for 350 criminal investigators and supervisors. Furthering his career he was Instructor for Indiana University for the Pennsylvania Basic Municipal Police Training Academy, Dickson University for Deputy Sheriff Basic Training Academy, Pennsylvania State University as Master instructor and Master Curriculum Development Specialist for the Constable Training Program, where he received the national ACHE award for Constable Training Curriculum. He became the Department Chair for the Criminal Justice Department for the International Academy of Design and Technology where he became an Independent Accreditation Evaluator for ACICS and he developed and delivered curriculum for Alutiiq International for the Regional Counter Drug Training Center (RCTA) and N. E. Counter Drug Training Center(NCTC).
He was a graduate of Saint Vincent’s College in 1972 and attended many forums at Penn State University and University of Pittsburgh School of Law to further his career.
He was a Director of the Blue Knight Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Chapter 21in Wexford, Pa, a member Crafton-Guyasuta F&AM Lodge #513, BOD for Allegheny County Camp Cadet and a member of the Advisory Board of Thompson’s Publishing Co. for Criminal Justice.
He received various awards from Pa. State Senate, Pa House of Representatives, Pa. Office of Attorney General, Penn State Adjunct Instructor of the Year and Pittsburgh Variety Club Law Enforcement Award.
Steven was a very kind, intelligent man who was very humorous and was always looking for new adventures. He enjoyed a variety of activities where he became a Master Gardener, and passionate Kayaker, along with taking walks, and exercising in his spare time.
Friends and Family will be received on Sat. June 30, 2018 at Neely Funeral Home 2208 Mt.Royal Blvd. Glenshaw from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 5:00 P.M.
