Betty Maneese, born November 26, 1923 in Pittsburgh, passed peacefully into eternity on April 26, 2026 at 102 years old — a life extraordinarily well lived.
Betty fell in love with Matthew Maneese at Peabody High School, marrying in 1942 and building a life together until his passing in 2001. She was his devoted partner through every chapter, and together they created a home filled with warmth, faith, and the laughter of generations.
She carried her losses with quiet grace — her beloved brother Billy, killed in Italy in January 1944 at just 19, lives on in the name of her son William Beigle Maneese. Her daughter Linda Dunn, predeceased her in December 2021, as did her daughter-in-law Kathleen Kaharich Maneese, beloved wife of William and truly another daughter to Betty.
Betty’s truest joy was her family. Whether hosting every holiday or welcoming grandchildren into her summers, she made everyone feel cherished. She was a homemaker, an antique restorer, a woman of deep faith — and above all, a good woman in every sense of those words.
She is survived by her grandchildren Megan Guzman and husband Dan of South Carolina, Liana Maneese and husband Pavel Gee of Point Breeze, and Keila Maneese of Plum; and her great-grandchildren Liam Matthew Maneese, 18, Leo Gee, 5, and Otie Gee, 3. As well as her son-in-law Jim Dunn of South Carolina.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and staff at Concordia of Ridgewood Place and Good Samaritan Hospice.
