Blair “Butch” Herchenroether, age 97, a life-long resident of Shaler Township, died peacefully on February 5, 2024.
Beloved husband of 59 years to the late Marylou (Stoll) Herchenroether.
Father of Sandie L. Ricca (James), Nancy H. Nogacek (Thomas)and the late David B. Herchenroether (the late Jane).
Grandfather of Tyler Fiedler (Kim), Kelly Nogacek Thiess (Alex) and Kari McLerran (Jared). Step-grandfather of Greg Jones and Shannon Capolupo (Domenic).
Great grandfather of Blair, Luke, and Ford Thiess; Kyleigh McLerran; Jacey and Cassie Fiedler and Step-great grandfather of Michael Rossi.
Son of the late Elmer J. and Helen (Weber) Herchenroether.
Brother of the late Jean Sheffler.
Butch was a 1944 graduate and athlete of Shaler High School and played semi-pro football for Millvale Ameci and Shaler A.C. and sandlot baseball for many years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was a 25 year member of Teamsters Local 249 driving for North Side and Champion Laundry. Butch also worked as an equipment operator for the PA Turnpike for 18 years. His hobbies included judging and breeding field champion beagles. He was a life member of Breakneck and Central Beagle Clubs.
Visitation will be Friday February 16th from 2-8 PM at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.
Funeral Service Saturday the 17th at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
