Harvey T. Woods, age 80 of Shaler, passed peacefully on Monday November 28th, 2022, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He lost his loving wife and best friend, Elizabeth (Betty) in 2020 after 58 years of marriage. Harvey is survived by his daughter Linda Kelley (Michael) of Lothian, MD; son Jimmy Woods (fiancé LaDonna) of Wexford, PA; grandson Sean Kelley (Hanna) and granddaughter Lauren Kelley; brothers Ed (Teena) and Tom (Judy).
Harvey was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on May 29, 1942 to Marjorie and Ed Woods, the middle son of three. The family moved a couple of times due to his fathers career, to eventually end up in Glenshaw, PA in 1957 where Harvey would attend and graduate from Shaler High School in 1960. This is where he met and fell in love with Betty, whom he would marry a couple of years later on June 9th, 1962. They had an amazing life together, with so many friends from high school that they stayed close to their entire lives. A huge support system for Harvey after Betty passed, and now for their children in Harvey’s passing. Harvey absolutely loved North Park, where he was almost daily. He would go biking, running, golfing, and up until a couple of months ago, walking with his brother Ed, as far as he could go. He called North Park his church, it was where he connected with God. Harvey enjoyed almost 20 years of retirement after a long career in mechanical design at Tippins Machinery in Etna. He loved his job, and retirement even more! Harvey and Betty had a wonderful life, traveling with friends on Harvey’s motorcycle, Oktoberfest at Oglebay and their winter getaway to Surfside beach, just to name a few. He and his brother Ed enjoyed their time with the rest of the FOG brothers, in a local Triumph car club. Harvey truly loved life! He will be missed by so many, as he travels to his final destination to be with Betty. Thanks so much Dad…we love you!
There will be no viewing as dad “didn’t want to be on display”. He had a sense of humor until the end, and it continues. A private celebration of life was what he wanted as well. Thanks for being his friend…he loved you all!
