Joan Woods

Joan Woods, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, after spending the week surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren. 

Wife of the late Ernest A. Woods. 

Mother of Stephanie, Daniel, and Richard. 

Grandmother of Jacqlyn, Joseph, Jordan, and Megan. Great grandmother of Nathan, Hannah, Charlie, Jackson, and Brooke. 

Sister of the late John, Anna Marie, and Robert. 

Joan was born August 4,1933 in Pittsburgh, PA to John & Anna Barkovitch. She enjoyed mainly solo pursuits, working in the yard, her flowers, many types of crafts, and particularly crocheting & cross stitching. She was also very thrifty.

She worked for Shaler Township from 1980 until retiring in 1995. Her and Ernie liked to travel, they visited numerous cities and had a habit of collecting magnets from their various trips.  Joan lived a simple God fearing life with her family as her priority. She is now with her parents, husband, brothers & sister smiling down on all of us. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Visitation will be held on Friday March 27th at 9 AM at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Matthew Parish, St. Bonaventure Church, 2001 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.
