Kathy Lynn (Kraus) Dunn

Kathy Lynn Dunn (nee Kraus) passed away at home in Annandale, Virginia on March 31, 2022 at the age of 63.  With her death, we lose a bright light, a brave girl, and a wonderful mother.  Kathy valiantly fought breast cancer - including multiple recurrences and associated complications - for over twenty years. Despite that constant assault on her health, she remained in the game until the end, taking each day as a gift and making the most of every moment.  A Pittsburgh girl to her core, she was a 1977 graduate of Shaler High School, and also received degrees from Temple University and the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.  After earning her Master's Degree, Kathy moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Supreme Court, First American Bank, the Department of Agriculture, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  She was a lifelong Steelers fan, a connoisseur of rock and roll (especially late 1970s and early 1980s punk and new wave), loved old movies, attending concerts, travel, and was an absolutely fantastic cook (and an avid collector of very expensive - and frequently used  - culinary gadgets and equipment).  Kathy is survived by her husband Edward and her dear son Alexander, her brother David, her nephews Stephen Kraus, Austin Dunn, and Jason Dunn, and her nieces Sasha Rocke, Avery Rocke, and Emma Dunn.  She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph P. Kraus and Verna M. Kraus and her brother Joseph E. Kraus.  

Visitation Thursday 6-8 PM at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.

Funeral Mass Friday 10 AM at St. Matthew Parish at St. Bonaventure Church.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to cancer-related charitable or research organizations and respectfully suggests the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.
