Mother of Brian F. Kornish (Ana Maria), John D. Kornish (Cecelia) and Douglas R. Kornish (Joy).
Grandmother of Thomas (Laura), David, Matthew, Mary and Daniel; Anjali (Roberto Nuila).
Daughter of the late Alfred and Edna Del Aquila.
Cousin of Linda Chambers (Bill).
Before moving to the Pittsburgh area in 2023, Louise spent her adult life in Staten Island, New York. She enjoyed the theater, art, music and traveling. Before having children, she traveled to almost every major art museum in Europe. She spent years camping with the family as part of the Good Sam camping club. She was also one of the longest running members of the Staten Island YMCA aerobics program.
Louise spent her career with the New York City Board of Education from 1981 through 2015. She started as a reading and English Teacher. She then served as a reading specialist for several schools and became the Assistant Principal of Visual Arts at Ditmas IS 62 in Brooklyn. The capstone of her career was serving as Principal for Anning S Prall IS 27 in Staten Island. Her dedication was always to the children under her care. She was an avid reader and made it her goal to read every book used in every class for the schools where she taught and at IS 62 and IS 27.
She loved cats and had feline pets continuously. She touched the lives of thousands of people and the impact of the values she instilled in her students will last for generations.
Visitation Monday August 7 from 6-8 PM at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.
Funeral Mass Tuesday August 8 at 10 AM at St. Matthew Parish, St. Bonaventure Church. Everyone Please Meet At Church.
A Memorial Service will be in Staten Island at a later date.
