William Daugherty Obituary

Formerly of Pittsburgh
William T. "Bill" Daugherty, originally from Pittsburgh, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015. Bill was the husband of Dorothy C. Daugherty, who preceded him in death. He was also survived by their son, Dennis W. Daugherty and his wife, Chris, of Danbury, Conn. Bill was born in Pittsburgh in 1920, a son of Charles and Henrietta Daugherty. Bill and his brother, John Daugherty, grew up in East Liberty, a suburb of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Peabody High School and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology. Bill was trained in mechanical engineering and worked as an engineer and draftsman for mill and foundry companies supporting the steel industry including Blaw-Knox Corp. Bill was active in Memorial Park Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher. Dorothy and Bill retired to Palm Coast, Fla., in 1984, where they made many new friends. He was an active member of the Palm Coast Pennsylvania Club and Palm Coast United Methodist Church. He loved the Florida sunshine, the trips abroad he and Dorothy took and maintaining his model railroad set up. In 2011, they moved to Danbury to be close to their son and daughter-in-law. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, in the Chapel of the Temple of Love Mausoleum at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice
