William J. Slagel Jr. (Bill) known by many as “Mr. Wonderful” passed away peacefully Dec. 4th at the age of 87. He was born on Feb 4, 1936 to the late William J. and Katherine Slagel. Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Jane, his daughter Lisa (James) Bucklar, grandchildren Emily Slagel, Mary Katherine Slagel (Sean), James Bucklar, Samantha Bucklar, great grandchild Georgia Scobee, and sister Kathleen Chisholm. Preceded in death by his much loved son William A. (Edye) and brother Clifford (Gloria).
Founder of William J. Slagel Agency, he graduated from North Catholic, attended Duquesne University, and proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. Semper Fi.
He lived a full life creating a legacy beyond his dreams. His family was everything to him. Bill was a true and loyal friend to many, living on the principles of respect, honesty, and integrity. Anonymously helping so many.
A special thanks to the staff at Pinnacle Hospice and St. Barnabas who cared for him with such love and compassion.
As per his wish there will be No Visitation, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday December 9th at 12 NOON at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Rd., Glenshaw. Everyone Please Meet At Church
Donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help (St. Marys) or your favorite charity. In lieu of flowers/donations just “be like Bill”, kind to one another. Also, start with a Manhattan…end with a Pecan Ball!
