Mary (Lil) Heaney Stoehr

Mary (Lil) Heaney Stoehr, Age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Born in Galway, Ireland to James and Julia Heaney (Keady). She is predeceased by her husband Charles Stoehr, son Stephen Stoehr, and her half brothers Patrick Heaney (Nessa) and Frank Heaney (Ann). Survived by her half-sister Colette Whisler, her children, Linda Russitano (Frank), Diana Hodgson (James), Christopher Rutter (Kim). Grandchildren, Beth Ann McLaughlin (Roy), Megan Law (Keenan), Jason Bloom (Layne), Justin Bloom (Jackie), Lauren Yamada (James), Christopher Stephen Stoehr, Christopher Rutter, and seven great-grandchildren whom she adored. Lil came over to Pittsburgh at the age of 14. She met Chuck at the Irish Club in Pittsburgh, where she was playing the piano, and when he saw her he said, “I’m going to marry that girl!” They were married for 55 years. Lil was known for being a fierce advocate for the underdog. Her motto was “there is always room for one more at the table,” and that was evident as many family, friends and sometimes strangers attended her Pittsburgh style Sunday dinners!  Her generous heart was never-ending, and she was never judgmental. Her family was everything to her, second only to her love for Jesus Christ, her Savior and King. 

Visitation Sun. 2-4 PM at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Mass of Christian Burial Mon. 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Rd, Glenshaw, PA 15116. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. The family is requesting that all visitors wear masks, practice social-distancing, and keep expressions of sympathy brief. Memorials suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
