Ruth Elizabeth Bender

Ruth Bender Obituary Went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on Wednesday, October 10th, a few days shy of her 87th birthday. Ruth resided in Glenshaw, PA until moving to Concordia at Rebecca Residence over two years ago. Ruth was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan cheering on the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. Most of all, her love for her family was evident to all. She was preceded into Heaven by her parents, Benjamin and Esther Hughes and her husband, Arthur C. Bender.

She is the cherished mother of Sharon B. McAwley and her son-in-law, Jonathon S. McAwley. Ruth is the adored grandmother of Matthew, Christopher, and Erin McAwley and the great grandma of Oliver Jon. She is also survived by her dearest brother John (Jack) Hughes and treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends. The family would like to thank those at Rebecca Residence who took care of Ruth for several years.

Friends will be received on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Neely Funeral Home.
