Paul Leo Crowe

Age 86, of Pittsburgh on March 3, 2017.

Survived by his former wife, Norma Crowe. He is the son of the late Catherine and John Crowe, brother of the late John, Thomas (Tommy), Vincent (Vinny), Charles (Chuck), Catherine (Kate), Loretta, Patricia (his beloved best friend Pat), and Mary Agnes. He is survived by his children; Karen, Paul, Lynda, Steve, Gary and Gregg; his grandchildren, Brandon, Alyssa, Bryan, Zachary, Nicholas, Melanie, Emily, Shannon, Michael, Julien, Karleigh and Luka; his great-grandson Liam, and his sister, Martha.

Paul Crowes life will, for many, be forever defined by the notable institutions with which he was associated. Paul grew up in the historic Homewood section of Pittsburgh. The Roman Catholic church was an institution that played a central role in Pauls life, providing an opportunity to serve others as an altar boy as well as an education, culminating in his graduation from Pittsburghs Central Catholic High School.

Pauls decision to enlist in the United States Navy was undoubtedly motivated by a sense of civic responsibility but also his intellectual curiosity and desire to see the world. And see the world he did, traveling to many countries while serving in the Navy. Paul served his country during the Korean War with distinction, earning the rank of Petty Officer.

Upon his honorable discharge, Paul returned to Pittsburgh to begin what would become his lifes work. Possessed of a strong work ethic Paul embarked upon a professional career in the restaurant industry, first working for one Pittsburgh institution (Isalys) before going to work for another. Paul was among the first employees of a now legendary Pittsburgh restaurant chain that traced its roots to a car hop with the odd moniker Eat nPark . In a career of progressive responsibility Paul rose from a cook, or grill boy as he would describe it, into restaurant management and finally a Regional Director. For the 44 years that Paul was employed by Eat nPark it was a far more than a source of income; it was an education, a source of professional challenge, and most of all a source of endless friendships with colleagues and the public.

The aforementioned institutions were at the center of Pauls life, but there was only one institution that Paul truly loved; Family. Paul expressed his love most compellingly in his actions. For those who knew him best, his family and closest friends, Paul will forever be remembered for the tireless effort devoted to his familys care and the boundless joy he derived from spending time with family. From Friday night poker games with his children to family vacations at the beach, as well as innumerable gatherings celebrating births, weddings, graduations and achievements of every kind, Paul was happiest when he was spending time with his family.

Paul Crowe was a Pittsburgh family man.
