Age 95 of Hampton Two., on April 26, 2017.
Wife of the late Albert Kern.
Mother of Lynn Haist (Thomas), Wendy Hughes (David), and Leslie Buchwald (Robert).
Grandmother of Nathaniel Kern
Sister of the late James Wesley McKercher.
Mrs. Kern was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, one of the first to join the Navy WAVES.
A graduate of Chatham College, she earned her Master's in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh.
She was a social worker for the State of Pennsylvania and was employed by St. Francis Hospital of Pgh for over 35 years.
She was also a hospice volunteer and a resident of Cranberry Place.
Friend and mentor to many, no cat, dog or child was ever turned away from her door.
A Good Christian with a big heart, she will be missed .
No Visitation. Funeral Service with military honors will be Tues., June 6, 2017 at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30 P.M. Everyone to meet at the cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a No-Kill animal shelter of your choice.
