Age 90, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday January 9, 2018 at Fairwinds Manor Nursing Home in Sarver, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Ament was married to his now deceased wife Shirley M. (Blacksmith) Ament for 61 years.
Mr. Ament is survived by his two sons, William J. Ament and Joseph M. Ament; Daughter-in-law Pegi Neumont-Ament; five grandchildren, Billy, Danny, Michael, Adam And Audra; and five great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh; the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Fyfe) Ament. He was a lifelong resident of Shaler Township.
Mr. Ament served his country during WWII in the Navy. Mr. Ament was a survivor of a Kamikaze Attack on the LST447. Mr. Ament was wounded during the attack and received accommodations for his dedication and bravery.
Mr. Ament continued serving his country and others by being a Lifelong Volunteer Fireman at Undercliff Fire Hall, Shaler Township; for over 50 years. During those many years; he served on the Ambulance Crew and held multiple positions ranging from Lieutenant to Chief.
Visitation Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:00 A.M. at All Saints Catholic Church in Etna.
